Most people don’t think about dental insurance until something hurts. But every fall, a quiet deadline creeps up: for most plans, whatever you haven’t used by December 31 is simply gone. If you live in Muncie, Yorktown, Selma or anywhere in Delaware County, the next few weeks are the best time to put your dental insurance benefits to work.

Why the Calendar Matters

Most dental plans reset on January 1. Your annual maximum, often somewhere between $1,000 and $2,000, starts over, and so does your deductible. Money left on the table this year doesn’t carry forward. If you’ve already met your deductible, finishing treatment now can cost noticeably less than waiting until January.

Treatments Worth Scheduling Now

  • Your second cleaning of the year. Most plans cover two preventive visits annually, often in full.
  • Fillings you’ve been putting off. Small cavities grow. Treating one now is usually simpler and cheaper than a root canal later.
  • Crowns. If a crown was recommended at an earlier visit, this is a good window to finish it.
  • Gum care. Periodontal treatment works best when it isn’t delayed.

Don’t Forget FSA and HSA Money

Many employers around Muncie offer flexible spending accounts. FSA funds are often use-it-or-lose-it, with only a short grace period or a small carryover depending on the plan. Dental care is an eligible expense, which makes it one of the easiest ways to spend down a balance. HSA funds roll over, but they’re still useful for planned treatment.

We’ll Help You Check Your Coverage

We accept most major plans, including Delta Dental, Anthem, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, Humana, Guardian and HoosierCareConnect. Call with your insurance information and our team can help you see what’s left. No insurance? Ask about our new patient special and financing options.
